Windows 10 Version 1909 Officially Available
Microsoft has begun distributing Windows 10 version 1909, the second major Windows update this year. The November update will be distributed as a system update via Windows Update, just like the previous semi-annual updates. In the case of known compatibility problems, the update will be held back for affected computers. For new installations, the software company provides the resources for the feature update via the "Media Creation Tool" for download.
According to Microsoft, the 1909 release not only includes improvements regarding performance, security and comfort. It also offers some new features such as the Cloud Clipboard for Microsoft and Azure AD accounts, a kiosk mode, BitLocker Key Rolling to better protect devices from accidental password disclosure, and enhancements to the Windows Sandbox, an isolated desktop environment already introduced in version 1903. In addition, the S Mode for Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise supports classic Win32 applications published via Mobile Device Management, such as Microsoft Intune.
For the Pro version of Windows 10 Version 1909, support will end 18 months after the release date and for the Enterprise and Education Edition after 30 months, concretely on May 10, 2022. Last year Microsoft changed the lifecycle for Windows 10 Enterprise and Education to provide 30 months of support for autumn updates, as opposed to 18 months for spring updates.
