Windows 10 Recovery from the cloud
Microsoft is working on a new restore feature for Windows 10. Users should be able to perform a reinstall not only from a local installation source, but also from a copy downloaded from Microsoft servers. The Change Log for Windows 10 Build 18950 mentions the Cloud Download feature for the first time, but the feature is not enable yet. It is to be expected that Microsoft will unlock the feature for some insiders in the coming weeks. It will only be officially available with Windows 10 20H1, sometime in the first half of 2020.
However, this type of reinstallation of devices is not new. Apple has been offering this service to its customers for quite some time. Devices with MacOS can be reset directly from the Apple servers instead of manually downloading and installing a copy of the operating system.
