Policy Management for Office 365 ProPlus from the Cloud
Microsoft has declared the Office Cloud Policy Service for Office 365 ProPlus generally available. Following a post on the Community Portal, O365 administrators are now able to define configuration policies for Office 365 ProPlus and assign them to users via Azure AD groups. Technically, this new type of Office policy is similar to the Office Group Policy in an On Premise domain, and is automatically enforced for a user. However, Office Cloud Policy Service does not require a domain membership or device registration in an MDM or UEM. Configuration policies are applied as soon as the user logs into an Office ProPlus application.
The Office Cloud Policy Service provides four policy creation and management capabilities: configuration, assignment, enforcement, and reporting. The new Office 365 ProPlus Administrator Service will be released through the Office Client Management Portal.
Notwithstanding the announcement after general availability, the new service is not yet available in all clients in Germany at the time of writing this article.
