Personal Azure AD Data Remains in Europe
Microsoft has announced a major change in the replication of Azure AD personal data for all European customers. According to Alex Simon, Corporate Vice President of Program Management, Azure AD customers who provide an address in Europe will now have all personally identifiable identity attributes stored only in the European data centers.
Previously, identity data from the global Azure AD was synchronized in at least three data centers. For European customers, this meant that there was always a data center from the USA, which in turn led to discussions about the protection of personal data. It seems that Microsoft has responded to the strong criticism and has begun to rebuild the architecture for the global Azure AD in the past. Personal data from European Azure AD customers will thus remain in Microsoft's data centers in Europe.
