New Office App for iOS and Android
Microsoft has released the final version of its new Office App for iOS and Android. The app, which was presented for the first time at last year's developer fair Ignite, combines practically all functions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint under a single interface and requires significantly less storage space than installing all individual applications. According to Microsoft, the redesigned Office App should make working outside the office, on the go, much easier.
To this end, the software company has added a number of functions to the new app. For example, thanks to the functionality from Office Lens, camera images of documents or whiteboard texts can be converted directly into Office documents. In addition, functions for signing PDF documents, capturing short notes and scanning QR codes are integrated. However, development for Microsoft is not yet complete and further features have already been announced for the coming months. These include a dictation function for Word, with which every spoken word can be converted into written text.
The new Office App is available for free download in the corresponding Apple and Google stores. Apple iPad users still have to be patient, the app will be delivered with a slight delay. Registration with an Office 365 or Microsoft 365 subscription is not required, but the premium functions, available for the current Office applications, will only be unlocked with this subscription.
