Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Receives Eextended Support
As the Microsoft Exchange team has now announced in a blog post, support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 will be extended until October 13, 2020. Originally, support was expected to end on January 14, 2020. Now Microsoft is offering its customers a little more time to migrate to a newer version of Microsoft Exchange Server or Microsoft Office 365.
According to the software company, technical support will be finally discontinued after October 13, 2020. Microsoft also points out that support for Windows Server 2008 R2 will in any case end in January 2020. Exchange Server 2010 on Windows Server 2008 R2 should be urgently updated as the server operating system will not receive any security updates after the end of support.
In this context, it should also be remembered that in the event of an ongoing deployment of Exchange in the own data center, a direct update to the current version Exchange Server 2019 is not possible! Exchange Server 2010 customers must first upgrade their infrastructure to Exchange Server 2013 or Exchange Server 2016.
