First Preview Builds of Microsoft Edge on Cromium Basis
Already for quite some time Microsoft is being developing a Chromium Engine for its Internet Browser Edge to replace EdgeHTML. Now the software company has made the first preview available. They released an official download page with the name "Microsoft Edge Insider Channels" and made the first builds from the Dev and Canary Channel available.
Unlike the Dev Channel, which includes weekly builds, the Canary Channel includes daily builds that are automatically updated every night. Once the first previews are stable, there will also be a beta channel, with a six-week update interval.
On the surface, the new Edge Browser looks quite similar to the Google Chrome Browser, which is not surprising, since both use the same engine. Now first details have become known how Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome differ technically. For example, Microsoft will deactivate more than 50 Chromium services in Edge, some of which will be Google-specific services.
